How Do I Clean Bathroom Odors?
When it comes to keeping the house clean, getting rid of foul odors is at the top of the list. Especially if the stinky odors are coming from the bathroom. Traditional bathroom odor control sprays work to mask the problem, after it has permeated the room. However, several years ago a new product, Poo Pourri, took the bathroom odor control market by storm with a different approach. Rather than masking the odor after it has had a chance to invade your home, this new concept works to stop the odor before it leaves the bowl.
Traditional bathroom odor control products work by masking odor after it has permeated the room. This new approach, however, stops the odor while it is still in the bowl. Instead of spraying an aerosol into the room, you spritz the toilet bowl with three or four sprays of product. The odor fighting mixture sits on top of the toilet water, waiting to trap odors before they spread into the room.
Follow these simple steps to make your own, all natural bathroom spray. Not only will you stop foul bathroom odors and smells from taking over the house, but you will also reap the benefit of essential oil aromatherapy.
What You Will Need:
3 ½ oz distilled water
1 tsp vegetable glycerin (you can substitute vegetable oil from your kitchen).
10 drops rosemary essential oil
20 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops lemon essential oil
One 4-ounce glass spray bottle or two 2-ounce glass spray bottles

One 4-ounce glass spray bottle or two 2-ounce glass spray bottles
Step 1: Mix the ingredients in a small bowl.
Step 2: Pour the mixture into a one 4-ounce glass spray bottle or two 2-ounce glass spray bottles. Glass spray bottles are preferred by essential oil enthusiasts over plastic spray bottles and are easily found on Amazon. However, since this recipe dilutes the essential oils in water, you can safely use a plastic spray bottle.
Step 3: When it is time to … well, you know .... add about 4 pumps to your toilet before you go. Just like the store bought versions, the oil will form a barrier on top of the toilet water which will trap the odors in place.
Tip: Make it your own by creating your own fragrance blend to use in place of the rosemary, lavender, and lemon recipe above. Provided the essential oil you choose is approved to be used aromatically in a diffuser, it is perfect for use as a bathroom fragrance.
When substituting oils, keep the count to about 40 drops (but it’s your bathroom, if 20 or 30 drops gets the job done, then that is fine!).
